Otoplasty or Repair of Lop Ear Deformity

The ear is normally located on the sides of the head and is directed backwards with an average angulation of 20 to 30 degrees from the back side of the head. For some individuals, the ear may be oriented forward with an angle of about 90 degrees, thus giving a picture of a prominent ear or the so called Lop Ear Deformity. This may bother the patient and consider it unpleasant to look at. Cosmetic surgical correction can be done by re orienting the ear to as close to normal look of 20 to 30 degrees from the back side.
